I want to give a special thanks to my buddy Patrick on this one. I got word on Friday that a few ex-Braves would be doing free signings around a few special events in Marietta on that Sunday. I wasn’t able to go, but he headed down and was able to pick up a few things for me.
One of the ex-Braves making an appearance was Otis Nixon, the often troubled fan-favorite of the Braves early 90′s teams. Otis is perhaps best known for “The Catch”, when he robbed Andy Van Slyke of a game-winning home run to extend the Braves 13 game winning streak in 1992. The coolest part about it was that I was seated in the right field upper deck stands when he made the catch. Fulton County Stadium was going absolutely nuts. The catch ended the inning and the fans gave him a standing ovation that lasted through the middle of the inning. Anyway, I ended up with 2 8×10′s and a ball. They are awesome and I will never look at them without thinking about “The Catch.”
